Position Overview

We have been exclusively retained by our client, a leading agricultural company in Uganda, to support the recruitment and selection of a highly capable and experienced Technical Supervisor – Farm Operations with strong administrative and technical expertise.

The role is based in the Western Region of Uganda and reports directly to the Director – Farm Field Operations.

The successful candidate must be a Government Gazetted Seed Inspector with a recognised Seed Inspection Certification (Zimbabwe, Zambia, or equivalent) and will be responsible for overseeing and improving farm efficiency, operational productivity, safety, compliance, and sustainability through effective planning, technical execution, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate daily work schedules aligned with farm objectives while coordinating team time off in line with seasonal and HR requirements.
  • Provide daily operational performance updates against targets, highlighting challenges and recommending solutions for subsequent operational plans.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved and maintained across farm operations.
  • Coordinate workflows, enforce safety standards, resolve operational issues, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Coordinate and support maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of farm machinery while ensuring accurate documentation and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct performance reviews, establish operational targets, and provide coaching, mentoring, and technical training to staff.
  • Ensure all field activities are executed according to established protocols, operational procedures, and agricultural best practices.
  • Enforce company disciplinary policies, address performance and behavioural concerns, and maintain accurate records in collaboration with HR and management.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, PPE compliance, safety inspections, incident reporting, and workplace investigations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or a related field.
  • Recognised Seed Inspection Certification (Zimbabwe, Zambia, or equivalent).
  • Must be a Government Gazetted Seed Inspector.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in a mechanized commercial farming environment at supervisory or management level.
  • Proven experience managing up to 400 hectares of mechanized commercial crop production.
  • Experience working with diverse crops including maize, soybean, rice, millet, sunflower, and related crops.
  • Familiarity with agricultural software systems and digital farm management tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and uphold agricultural safety and operational best-practice standards.
