Technical Supervisor – Farm Operations

Position Summary
A leading agricultural company in Uganda is seeking a highly capable and experienced Technical Supervisor – Farm Operations. The role requires strong technical, operational, and administrative expertise to oversee and enhance farm efficiency, safety, and productivity.
Reporting to the Director – Farm Field Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing daily farm operations, improving workflow efficiency, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to support long-term farm sustainability. The position is based in the Western Region of Uganda.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate daily work schedules aligned with farm objectives and seasonal requirements.
- Coordinate team time-off schedules with HR and planning units.
- Provide daily performance updates against targets, highlighting challenges and proposing solutions.
- Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and operational protocols.
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, and servicing of farm equipment to minimise downtime.
- Ensure accurate documentation of machinery usage and maintenance activities.
- Provide regular updates on workflow progress and enforce safety procedures across all farm operations.
- Conduct performance reviews, set clear targets, and provide coaching and training for staff development.
- Enforce disciplinary policies and collaborate with HR on employee performance and conduct issues.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring proper use of PPE and compliance with safety standards.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety inspections, and incident reporting processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field.
- 5–7 years’ experience in a mechanized commercial farm in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience managing up to 400 hectares of mechanized commercial crop production.
- Experience with crops such as maize, soybean, rice, millet, sunflower, etc.
- Familiarity with agricultural software and digital farm management tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and modern agricultural best practices.
