Position Summary
A leading mining company in Zimbabwe is embarking on a definitive strategic transformation to strengthen its position as a globally competitive, operationally efficient, and socially responsible enterprise. The organisation seeks a dynamic, resilient, and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead this pivotal turnaround and steer the company into a new phase of sustainable growth and profitability.
This executive mandate requires a proven leader with deep expertise in mining operations, financial stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and governance within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and inspirational leadership to shape the company vision, culture, and long-term direction.
- Lead the operational and financial turnaround of the business through robust short- to medium-term strategies.
- Provide direct oversight of mining operations focusing on productivity optimisation and cost efficiency.
- Ensure sound financial stewardship including capital budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
- Act as the primary representative to the Board, shareholders, government authorities, regulators, and communities.
- Ensure compliance with governance, legal, and industry standards.
- Champion Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives.
- Oversee human capital strategy, leadership accountability, and organisational culture.
- Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and compliance risks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Mining or a related field.
- Masters Degree in Business Administration or equivalent is mandatory.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the mining sector, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
- Proven turnaround leadership experience.
- Strong financial management and reporting expertise.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement capability.
- Solid human capital leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success in ESG implementation.
